Housekeeping: A Chicken Update

I’m sorry to announce that Peaky, our beloved chicken, has moved back to the farm: HE started to crow in the wee small hours of the morning.
I don’t like to wake up at 5 a.m. to a hearty cock-a-doodle. It sounded like a joyful noise, but the timing was off. We are once again chicken-less, and nursing the wounds inflicted by such a betrayal. We really thought he was a chicken up to the last…
I thought it would be fun (for my mom at least) to show you the blog posts that have really stuck with me this week. The posts that I carry with me, that I roll around in my head and scratch my intellect with.
These, in short, are my favorites this week. They are the posts to savor with a cup of coffee and a bagel on a Saturday morning.
and finally, simply because I like chickens, and in memory of Peaky:

  1. Oh how I laugh out loud everytime I look at your blog! 🙂
I also think your chicken/rooster story is hysterical! You certainly have a way with words, JoAnn.
    Have a great weekend.

  2. Lady, why are you so good to me? Is this your restitution for all of the cyber-bullying?? 😉

ps – I Breathed You Into My Heart and I Get Funny Looks were also two of my faves. I knew them precisely by their titles alone. I just read your other favorite, too. Thanks for sharing.

  3. What? No more chicken? But I was living vicariously through you (I type, as I chew on a delicious piece of sauteed chicken). What will become of Peaky?

  4. You seem to always be eating chicken when you type to me Cheryl. What's up with that?
I thought about putting him on Craigslist, but I was worried about the black market chicken trade. I didn't want him to end up in a pot, or worse, as a cock fighter. (I think they would have changed his name to Spike though).
