On The First Day Of Spring My True Love Gave To Me…

The first day of Spring slapped us in the face. Sometimes the world screams at you when it wakes up from the Winter.

The vibrant colors and perfumed smells are God’s way of pulling at your pant leg, trying to get your attention.
I’m pretty sure He’s saying in his most urgent tone, “HELLO! FLAMINGOS! I MADE FLAMINGOS AND I LOVE YOU!!”

Otherwise, what is the deal with this pink tree? It just has to be a love letter, or I’ll eat my hat.

As we wandered the zoo, I kept getting hit in the face, in the most thrilling way, by unexpected and startling decorations.

Was it really necessary to adorn a giraffe’s tale in such a way?

I mean, we have the extraordinary height, the weird walking manners, and the spots. A wavy black tail to top it off seems to imply some Providential extravagance.

In the face of such a firework display, the only thing we could do was find our buddy and hold hands in awe

A love like this calls for a time of rest and reflection. Eventually all the bright greens and yellows make you’re eyes tired, and then your legs get tired, and then you think you’d like to take a little rest on a bronzed rhinoceros. And why not?

The earth is full of the lovingkindness of the Lord. By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of His mouth all their host. He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap; He lays up the deeps in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the Lord, Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. For He spoke and it was done; He commanded and it stood fast.” Psalm 33:5b-10

  1. I made flamingos and I love you. No need to get all theological and deep. Sometimes it's just that simple.

And you should get a prize for that picture in which all the delightful cherubim are perched on a bronze rhino and smiling.
